Alexis Hambriento Blog #2 – 8 Days a Week! Review of Semana 8.

8 Days A Week – Semana 8

I know reliable, consistent and dependable could be considered faint praise by some, but aside from how good the food is, these are some of the things I love about Semana 8. Found on one of the busiest corners in Javea, yet still offering magnificent views and a relaxed, open atmosphere, Semana 8 has become my ‘go to’ restaurant for what is, in my opinion, the best Pan-Asian food on this coast. I have been stopping in for lunch, dinner, late night meals on a regular basis since my very first experience of their excellent menu del dia, and the friendly greeting from owner, Jimmy.

The menu del dia is always a treat, three courses, one drink, dessert and coffee all for € 9.95. For starters I have tried the various beef or chicken skewers, the queso frito con salsa, and the hot and sour soup and always have a difficult time deciding which to choose from, because…yes, it’s all so very tasty. The segundos are the carbohydrates (rice, noodles or chips) that combine with BAN BAN chicken, seafood, beef or duck or if you, prefer you can have your sauce KONG BO style.Sushi is also an option, and it is some of the best in the area.

If you prefer to order a la carte (or it is evening) you’ll have a lot of ‘carte’ to choose from. The sushi menu is extensive, with all the standards; sashimi, nigiri, maki and the ‘sushi for 2 (24 pieces)’ comes in at just over 1€ a piece, which, if you eat sushi often, you’ll know that’s quite a deal. For main dishes you have the whole Pan Asian map to choose from, Thai, Szechuan, Singapore, or Peking style and Jimmy and staff carve a House Special Duck tableside with expertise and flair. The average dish is between 7 -10€. They also offer vegetarian/vegan options (although if vegan please state when ordering) which my vegan friends said were delicious. A menu para ninos is, of course, available.

Jimmy and his staff provide efficient, courteous service, and did I mention Jimmy’s smile? Really, I could go there just for that….eight days a week.
