I caught this lovely story on my news-feed last week and although I am sure many did see it, Lucy and Tony from Make-A-Smile do not share their achievements nearly enough on social media and so I am going to do it for them as I think this deserves a cyber round of applause and more than 14 shares 😉
Unbeknown ( not used that word for ages!) to most, “Senor & Senora Grande” were invited to the British Embassy in Madrid to meet Mr Simon Manley, the British Ambassador to Spain to be presented with a certificate “in recognition of outstanding contribution to the local community” on behalf of “Make A Smile and all their wonderful volunteers.
So I would like to add our sincere congratulations on behalf of Javea Connect and all who sail with her 😀
Here is what they announced to the followers of the Make-a-Smile Facebook page:-
Sooooo much love!!! Doesn’t go un-noticed…
They say charity starts at home and this outstanding community definitely makes that point on a daily basis
Thanks to your kindness “Make A Smile have just donated over another €5000 of gift vouchers letting those very grateful children’s Carers buy new summer clothes for the children in their care. Your kindness is also sponsoring further educational programs for a whole host of kidsas well as allowing them special treats while enjoying positive and fun out-of-school activities. You special folk over the years have sponsored school trips, refurbished children’s homes and played Santa giving local kids special Christmases. You also built a “self sufficient farm for mentally challenged youngsters and traumatized children giving them space to grow and heal. Last Saturday it was an honor and privilege to be invited to the British Embassy in Madrid to meet Mr Simon Manley, the British Ambassador to Spain to be presented with a certificate “in recognition of outstanding contribution to the local community” on behalf of “Make A Smile and all our fantastic Volunteers and this amazing community that have supported “Make A Smile” over the years, helping local children in care have the possibility of a better life. I’ve always said that if there was an award winning community I would vote for you guys And it seems that the ambassador agrees with me!!! Lots still to do but for now a super big humongous thank you..xxx”
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS YOU GUYS!
