Puig has announced the extension of the curfew from 01:00 to 06:00 hours . The Consell has requested authorization from the Valencian Superior Court of Justice (TSJCV). In it they have requested its application in 77 municipalities of the Community. This will affect 2.6 million inhabitants, half of the Valencian population.

Statement from Javea Mayor, Jose Chulvi on Thursday 222nd July

🔴 RESTRICTIONS COVID 🔴From the City Council.

“We want to make clear our concern to be outside the Generalitat proposal to activate the curfew between July 26 and August 16th. Yesterday being connoisseurs through the media of the proposal from the Health Ministry, our mayor was immediately interested in finding out what criteria they had followed to prepare this list of 77 municipalities.

They indicate that, when dealing with a measure that affects fundamental rights and should be endorsed by the High Court of Justice, there are objective and proven requirements linked to statistics and health parameters. One of these is the accumulated incidence rate. In Javea it is around 500 cases per 100.000 inhabitants and therefore it is high. We fulfill that criteria.

What we don’t comply with, is having the rate of transmissibility equal to or greater than 2. That is, that each case has been diagnosed, contagious to two or more people. The list has already been officially announced but we have requested that they reconsider including Javea both for health safety and citizen security.

We are convinced that it is important that there is a geographical unification of the measures to prevent mobility from being generated in towns where there are less restrictions, avoiding situations like we are going to live through in the next few weeks, in that, in the summer, Javea -together with Benitachell, would be the only municipalities in our area where there will be no curfew.

We are very worried about the health, social and safety consequences in a summer that is already complicated for our Local Police to face, in addition to their usual services and emergencies, they have to be in control of all health measures and hundreds of people – warnings and incidents related to citizen safety and good coexistence – complaints regarding private parties, “botellons” and antisocial behaviour.

Therefore, we have asked both the Generalitat and the Government subdelegation to be aware of the situation we are facing and ask that they respond to that special need by sending the relevant police means to deal with it.-🔴

With the accumulated incidence in constant growth and the new daily cases far exceeding 1,000 infections, the Valencian Government is determined to continue with the limitations that at least stop the escalation of infections. Scientists who advise the Consell on health matters already spoke in this line, and even advocated introducing some new measures to curfew and the limitation of people in public and private meetings.
