April 13th is International Kissing Day , a time to look for a special place to kiss and cuddle. In the province of Valencia, there is a garden that was blessed in the past with the name of “The Kissing Garden.
It is located close to the fountain of the twenty-five jets of Xàtiva, also known in the town as “La font dels 25 Xorros Dolls”, on Calle del Puig No. 55, next to the bullring.
This small garden, considered the best in the town, hides a beautiful past behind its name. The place is enclosed behind closed doors and walls, an old laundry room, shadows between trees and vegetation and an old modernist temple, all bequeathed by Doña Carmen Pérez, wife of the former Italian philosopher Attilio Bruschetti.
A quiet and well-kept place, full of vegetation, ideal to let yourself be carried away by the senses and admire the beautiful temple that continues to see thousands of couples passing by, who want to feel the same connection that Doña Carmen and Don Attilio felt, which is why they donated the garden to the people of Xàtiva.
Popularly called Jardín del Beso, it takes its name from the love poems that the Italian philosopher dedicated to his beloved Carmen in the shade of these same trees, is also known as Jardín de Carmen Pérez, despite the fact that originally it was known by the “Garden of the Verse”.
