Guided visit to the Les Freses Winery.
Visit Celler Les Freses, a family run winery situated in Jesus Pobre, between Javea and Denia.
The owner is Mara Bañó who opted for viticulture when acquiring a strawberry farm in the 1970s. Apparently it did not work too well and so Mara turned the farm into what we know today as Les Freses , giving its name to this 100% Muscat of Alexandria wine.
Cultivation without irrigation
Mara Bañó clarifies that the microclimate that is created on the north slope of the Montgó massif natural park allows them to grow without irrigation.

Very close to the Celler Les Freses , there is l’Alt de Benimà quia, considered one of the oldest vineyards for wine production in the Iberian Peninsula.
