The Javea pool is now finally open to the public.
After more than two decades of local demands, unfulfilled political promises and multiple technical obstacles, Javea has finally opened the doors of its indoor municipal swimming pool.
Located next to the Palau Municipal d’Esports Miguel Buigues Andrés, Avda dels Furs,14), was inaugurated yesterday afternoon in an institutional act headed by the Mayoress Rosa Cardona, the General Director of Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana, Luis Cervera Torres and the Councillor for Sports, Toni Molina. Also present were José Chulvi, given that the beginning of the construction was carried out during his term of office.

The mayoress and the director general were given a guided tour of the facilities. The 70+ deficiencies previously detected in 2024 have all been rectified. Among them, the problems with the slope of the showers in the changing rooms have been rectified and a gutter has been installed between the two water basins, a health requirement to guarantee the separation of the water. Cardona said that it is logical that more deficiencies will arise: “It is a completely new facility and its use will gradually lead to improvements to be made and problems to be solved, which we will try to resolve effectively”.
The new installation has water treated by saline electrolysis, a system that avoids the use of chlorine and maintains a constant temperature of between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius. The complex has spaces for both aquatic and dry activities (a gymnasium will be installed soon), adapting to a wide range of users and needs.
The public opening took place on Tuesday 1 July.
During the months of July and August, admission will be free, and from September onwards, the entrance fee will be 3.50 euros for people with special subidies and 5 euros for others. To use it, it is recommended to book in advance through the XÃ bia Esports website.

In the future, “depending on the speed of the administrative procedures”, the Town Hall intends to hand over the management of the swimming pool to the municipal company Amjasa. At the moment it is the company that manages the rest of the sports facilities that is in charge.
