by Loraine Gostling

This Sunday, 23rd September,  the VII Trixàbia, II Memorial Eduardo Monfort takes place. This year there will be some 650 athletes taking part in the Olympic y Sprint.

The event, which will host the Provincial Cup, will begin on the Arenal Beach, with the first swim segment. Subsequently, the participants will face a second segment of cycling.

There is a change this year to the cycling route. The former president of the club, Jaime Escortell, has said that “the Traffic Department had not authorized the cycling test along the Camí Cabanes and thanked the local police who have changed the bicycle circuit. This year it will run along the Plà road, between the McDonalds roundabout and the MasyMas roundabout, passing by the Arenal school. In total it is a circuit of 6 kilometers.

Road Closures and Solidarity Event

The tests, which will start from the 8 in the morning, force traffic cuts and therefore, the Plà highway and the First Montañar will remain closed until 14 hours. Residents of the urbanizations of the south of Javea are recommended to use the Camí Cabanes.

The third segment of the race on foot is maintained in an incomparable setting by the Passeig del Tenista David Ferrer y first Muntanyar, without losing sight of the beautiful Javea bay.

Parallel to the Trixàbia, there is a solidarity event. The boutique SynCrolab has organized a solidarity act with 11 static bicycles in which they hope to accumulate 1.000 minutes of pedaling between all the participants. If they meet the challenge they will donate 1.000 euros to the Valencian Cycling Federation to support the para-cyclists.

The cycles depart from the Arenal beach and link at the roundabout
The Carretera del Pla with a 6.5 km circuit until reaching the
McDonalds roundabout.
The circuit starts from the roundabout on Avenida del Pla towards C/Strasbourg,
linking in a turn to the right with C/Brussels and it connects with Arenal Avenue
there it turns to the Carretera del Pla until you reach the McDonalds roundabout
where they make a 180 degree turn to reverse direction and return to the roundabout
on the Carretera del Pla
