The festival of Sant Antoni is celebrated every January 17th, this being the patron saint’s day, although the festive events usually take place on days before and after this date.
Programme:-
Friday January 16th
08.00 am: Setting up the traditional pine tree on Sant Antoni street.
18.00 Hot chocolate for all children at the fairgrounds.
Saturday, January 17th: Saint Anthony’s Day. XXVI ‘Burning of the Saint Anthony’s Pine’
09 am: Parade of the Sant Antoni Abad Festival Committee ‘Penya La Burrera’ through Duanes de la Mar, with dolçaina and tabalet.
11 am: Gathering of participants and horses on Sant Antoni street for the route to Plaza de la Constitución, accompanied by dolçaina and tabalet.
12 pm: Solemn Eucharist in the parish of Our Lady of Loreto and a raffle for an image of Saint Anthony Abbot. Following this, there will be a blessing of bread and a procession with the image of the saint to the Joaquim Sorolla Promenade for the blessing of the animals. After the events, a reception will be offered to those in attendance.
18 pm: Acoustic concert by the duo OXIGEN, with bar service and snacks.
19 pm: Parade of the Commission to the fairgrounds and visit to the Penya El Tiraset on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of La Burrera for the pi cream Traditional.
20 pm: Traditional burning of the pine tree, followed by a performance by the Batisjaus group.
Sunday January 18th
10 am: Gathering and breakfast for the participants of the pilgrimage on C/Sant Antoni.
11 am: Pilgrimage to the Plaza de la Constitución. Route: Sant Antoni, Sant Joaquim, Ronda Sud, Av. Trenc d’Alba, Av. dels Furs, Toni Llidó, Av. Jaume I, Plaza President Adolfo Suárez, Crist del Mar, Av. Joan Carles I, Cervantes, Av. Alacant, Ronda Nord, PrÃncep d’Astúries, dels Oms and Plaza de la Constitución.
13 pm: Blessing of all the horses and animals present in the Plaza de la Constitución, distribution of the bread roll and images of the patron saint, and popular raffle.
14 pm: Gathering of participants and return in a caravan to C/Sant Antoni, where the image of the saint will be placed in its niche.
