Protest Against the Development of 64.000m2 in Portitxol

by Loraine Gostling

A public protest has been organised on Friday, August 31st at 1pm in the Plaza de la Iglesia, next to the main building of the City Council.

The objective is to try to halt the Integrated Action Program (PAI) that aims to urbanise 64,290 square meters of virgin urban land in the Portitxol area.

Reported in La Marina Plaza last Friday

Two large plots are highlighted for development, one of 18,000 mtrs. and another of 7,000, which in total would total 25,000 square metres. It is presumed that they would be destined for some leisure facility or perhaps a hotel. The rest ( about 20,000 square metres) would be used to build new houses. In addition, it would also include a green area of about 14,000 square meters.

A collection of signatures against the project on the Change.org platform has also been launched .
