The Department of Town Planning has opened a period of public consultation for a specific modification of the General Urban Development Plan to allow for the construction of a roundabout in Avda.Palmela next to the plots where the Fira i Porrat de Sant Antoni is usually held.
Specifically, the intervention is proposed at the junction of Avenida Palmela with Calle Dámaso Alonso and Poeta José Albi. to improve the mobility of the road axis and the passage of traffic to the Port, Arenal and the urbanisations.
At this point, the municipal technical services have detected problems such as: lack of cross motorised connectivity between the two areas where there is a school, sports and leisure facilities and tertiary uses; speeding on Palmela Avenue despite the legal limitations that sets the maximum at 40km/h; excessive airborne noise in accordance with the Municipal Acoustic Plan of Xàbia in force and, finally, poor pedestrian communication with the rest of the city and the connections between the neighborhood of Thiviers and Freginal can be improved.
