Javea revives its history with dramatised routes during the summer months
Once again this summer, Javea is promoting culture and family leisure with its street theatre.
This initiative combines history and theatre, promoting a type of family tourism that emphasizes local history and monuments as an alternative to sun and sand. Residents and visitors can enjoy this unique journey back in time through four different stories that will be performed during the months of July and August.
Among the routes is the Golden Age of Xà bia, which will be performed on July 8 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and on August 5 at 7:00 p.m. This route invites you to discover a period of economic splendor and growth in the old town. The meeting point is the Tourist Office in the Historic Centre (in Plaça de l’Església).
Another proposal recreates a key but little-known historical episode: The Attack of 1812. This route will take place on July 14 at 7:30 p.m. and on August 26 at 7:00 p.m. The route will also depart from the Tourist Office in the Historic Centre.
The third route, El Quixot de la Plana , is highly original. Set in the surroundings of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Angels, it will take place on July 29th at 7:30 pm and August 9th at 7:00 pm . This route combines local history with references to the most universally recognised character in Spanish literature.
Children can enjoy several storytelling sessions on July 21st at 7:30 p.m. , on August 18th at 7:00 p.m. (at the Historic Center office), and on August 4th at 7:00 p.m. (at the Aduanas del Mar Tourist Office in Plaza Adolfo Suárez). This activity has a flat rate of 8 euros for children 6 and older.
The dramatised tours cost 10 euros for adults and 8 euros for children ages 6 to 14. Space is limited, so it’s recommended to book in advance via WhatsApp (685 148 915) or by emailing [email protected] .
