Timetable for controlling access to the coves in Javea this summer.

The following plan will be activated in different phases to be fully operational from June 21st.

Granadella and Portixol

Guards and assistants will control the access to the two coves, as well as the Cova Tallada. There will also be regulated parking in the street of La Barraca (Portitxol) and Pic Tort  (Granadella and this is joined by the Red Cross operation that is already underway, and active during the weekends in May on the Arenal beach.

From June 1st (the middle season)

Service of access control on weekends (1-2, 8-9, 15-16) and from June 21sr the high season will start with a daily service until September 15th. On that day, the mid-season will return with surveillance on weekends (21-22, 28-29 and 5-6) and until October 13th.

Also, on June 1st begins the regulation of parking in the streets Pic Tort (Cala Granadella) and La Barraca (Cala Portitxol), with an implementation on weekends and daily from June 21st until September 15th.

At Cala Ambolo, which is closed to the access of people due to the high risk of landslides, there will also be a guard operative on the beaches.

Operation on the beaches

The Red Cross continues to provide surveillance of the beaches in the low season, with a team of 1 coordinator, 3 lifeguards and 1 lifeguard.

  • In the the low season, with a team of 1 coordinator, 3 lifeguards and 1 boat during the weekends of May on the Arenal beach
  • From June 1st, surveillance will continue at Arenal beach, but with an increase in personnel (1 coordinator, 5 lifeguards, 1 boat skipper, 2 emergency health technicians, and an ambulance).
  • From June 15th, when the mid-season starts, with the incorporation of lifeguards on the beaches of La Grava, Granadella and Portitxol, and on weekends in Benissero  or Primer Muntanyar.
  • On July 1st the service will be deployed in its entirety, with daily presence on the five beaches of Xàbia: Grava, Benissero and Primer Muntanyar, Arenal, Portitxol and Granadella. With a device ineach of these beaches:
  • La Grava: 3 lifeguards
  • Primer Muntanyar or Benissero: 3 lifeguards
  • Arenal: 6 lifeguards, 1 skipper, 2 health emergency technicians, 1 boat,1 ambulance.
  • Accessible bathing point Arenal: 2 lifeguards
  • Portitxol: 3 lifeguards, 1 boat skipper and 1 boat.
  • Granadella: 2 lifeguards, 1 boat skipper, 2 health emergency technicians, 1 boat and 1 ambulance.

Finally, the process of contracting alternative transport to the Cala de la Granadella is in its final phase.

Granadella is in the last phase of study by the municipal technicians. (In Portitxol, no company applied for the public tender.)

This  also includes a watchman who will be at the access point of the Cova Tallada in C/Vía Láctea in Dénia during the months of August and September, in order to monitor, control and regulate the pedestrians who enter the path to reach the protected cave located on the borders of Jávea and Dénia. This surveillance is shared with the City Council of Dénia and the Natural Park.

It is worth remembering that access to this area (Cova Tallada) must be booked (free of charge).
