The process for deregistering 7,000 more tourist properties has begun.

This is a translation of an article by the Community of Valencia tourist magazine published on 30th June 2025.

If you manage a tourist accommodation in the Valencian Community and have registered it in the Generalitat’s Tourism Registry, please note that the General Directorate of Tourism is revising this database based on the new requirements established in the Consell Decree Law approved in 2024 .

Now, in July, the deregistration process for 7,089 tourist homes begins due to their lack of a cadastral reference. In the first phase, 11,066 homes were canceled for this reason. These 7,000 homes were not included in that phase because the Tourism Department did not have their electronic contact information. Their deregistration is now being processed through postal notifications, as required by law.

All registered tourist accommodations must have provided a unique, individualised cadastral reference number by December 31, 2024.

If you think you may be affected and don’t have a contact email address listed in the registry, you’ll receive a certified letter. You can provide the property reference number and prevent your home from being removed from the registry.

If you fail to do so, the property will be deregistered. You will be notified of this decision through your citizen’s file at the Generalitat (Catalan Government).

HOW TO PROVIDE THE INFORMATION REQUIRED BY THE TOURIST HOUSING REGISTRY OF THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY.

From the moment you receive the notification, you have 10 BUSINESS DAYS, counting from the following day, to provide the cadastral reference.

It must be exclusive to the home; the same reference cannot be associated with more than one home.

This procedure must be completed electronically using the following Self-Registration form:-

Please note that to complete this process, you must have an electronic certificate and the Autofirma program downloaded to your computer to digitally sign.

To correctly complete the entire process, simply follow the steps outlined in the following Guide:-

GET YOUR HOME REGISTERED IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY TOURISM REGISTRY

Once you’ve completed the above process, you’ll automatically receive an acknowledgment of receipt with the new information entered, and your property will be fully registered in the Valencian Community Tourism Registry.

Remember that you must complete the entire process within 10 business days of receiving the notification. After this deadline, if you haven’t done so, your property will be deregistered and cannot be legally rented for tourist purposes.

UPDATE OF THE TOURISM REGISTRY OF THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY

The data in the Tourism Registry is being cleaned and updated to be transferred to a new software application that will allow for greater efficiency in processing.

Therefore, it is important that you carefully check that your property registration includes all the information considered essential according to tourism regulations.

If you wish to rent a property for tourism purposes, you must meet the requirements of the Regulatory Decree and register it in the Valencian Community Tourism Registry.

You can register your vacation rental online at any time through the Self-Registration process or view your details online at the following link:

THE DIGITAL ONE-STOP SHOP, THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING’S REGISTRY

Additionally, remember that if you wish to advertise your vacation rental on online platforms, you must also register with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda’s Digital One-Stop Shop for Rentals.

Last May, the Generalitat (Catalan Government) filed an administrative appeal against Royal Decree 1312/2024, which created this Digital One-Stop Shop, because it believes it encroaches on the exclusive powers of the autonomous communities in matters of tourism.

For the time being, and pending the resolution of the appeal, the decree has been in effect since July 1. Given the concerns raised in the sector by this new regulation, the Regional Secretariat of Tourism has issued an information note explaining which types of tourist accommodation in the Valencian Community must be registered with this One-Stop Shop.

Only Tourist Homes need to be registered; this does not apply to tourist apartment blocks, hotels, campsites, or rural houses. And you only need this registration if you want to advertise your property on online platforms.
