New laws have now been introduced for Personal Mobility Vehicles, including electric scooters

by JC Admin

Since the end of January,  Personal Mobility Vehicles (VMP), including electric scooters, are required to register in the Register of Light Personal Vehicles, integrated into the National Vehicle Registry managed by the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT).

The measure is centred on the Royal Decree 52/2026, of January 28, which modifies the General Vehicle Regulations and Royal Decree 2822/1998, that establishes the framework for the new registration and mandatory identification of such vehicles.

In our region, the Marina Alta, different bodies of Local police have now begun to circulate informational notices to the public to facilitate compliance with the new procedures and avoid penalties.
