The 200 euro governent subsidy – explanation and application procedure.

Who can request it, until when and how long does it take for it to arrive?

On February 15th,  the 200 euros that the Government approved in its package of measures against the crisis on December 27th was opened for applications. Officially, it is called “New help for low-income and low-net-worth individuals.”

It is a single payment which the claimant may use freely. The aid does have specific application deadlines and requirements to be met by the applicant.

In addition, it must be taken into account that it is an aid for the family nucleus, so that only one family member can apply. However, if people from different families share a household, each of them may request their own payment without taking into account those of their companions.

Requirements for applications:-

According to the Tax Agency website, people who have meeet the following requirements may request the aid:

  • “Those who have habitual residence in Spain”.
  • “That they have carried out an activity on their own account or on behalf of others for which they are registered in the corresponding Social Security or mutual insurance regime”.
  • “That they have been beneficiaries of the unemployment benefit or subsidy.”
  • “Those that do not exceed 27.000 euros in full income, that is, the gross amount without discounting expenses or withholdings, nor 75.000 euros of assets as of December 31, 2022, discounting the habitual residence.”

At the time of announcing the aid, the Government confirmed that it could be requested by the salaried, self-employed or unemployed people.

People excluded from aid

On the other hand, there are certain types of profile that cannot request the check:

  • People who “receive the Minimum Vital Income (includes child aid supplement)”.
  • Those who receive a pension paid by the General Scheme or the special Social Security Schemes or by the State Passive Class Scheme, as well as those who receive similar benefits from the alternative social security mutuals to RETA (Special Security Scheme of Self-Employed or Self-Employed Workers).
  • Those who have been “administrators by law of a commercial company that had not ceased its activity as of December 31, 2022, or were holders of securities representing the participation in equity of a commercial company not traded on organized markets”.

Closing date for applictions

The deadline to apply for aid runs until March 31, 2023.

How long does it take to receive the aid payment?

From the day the deadline for submitting the application form ends, the maximum time to receive the aid income will be three months. That is, the last day it can be received will be June 30, 2023.

Where and how to order it

The Tax Agency has enabled a web page for applicants. through which the procedure can be carried out.

To apply for the aid, no documentation is required. Through the electronic form of the link it will only be necessary to have a Cl@ve, the electronic certificate or the DNI-e.

In addition, since the payment is deposited to the applicant, he must write down his own NIF, that of the people with whom he/she lives at the same address and his/her bank account number in order to receive payment.
