The 2023 Fiestas Commission and the Gata de Gorgos City Council have issued a joint statement to apologise to the population after the incidents that occurred in the bull festivities on Saturday.
During Saturday afternoon, at the beginning of its patron saint festivities, Gata celebrated the oficial start to the annual parade. According to witnesses, one of the first announcing rockets that warned that the entrance of the bulls and cows would begin on the third warning, was mistaken for the moment when the animals were actually to be released. Since the opening of the gates to the bulls was brought forward, the entrance caugh people who were on the route of the previous parade totally unaware!!
In a statement released by the Fiestas Commission and the Gata City council, they expressed their regret for the anguish caused to the people attending the inauguration parade and the negative impact that the scare has caused to the image of the festivities.
For this reason, the Commission and the City Council assure that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure that situations like this one do not happen again in the future. In addition, they are grateful for the quick and efficient intervention of the emergency services, Civil Protection volunteers and the Local Police, who acted with professionalism to control the situation and avoid further problems.
